Linking Contacts to Companies

Associating contacts with their companies lets you see all the people you know at an organization in one place. Here are the ways to create this link.

During contact creation

When you create a new contact, the Company field accepts a company name. If a matching company record exists, it is linked automatically. If the company doesn't exist yet, the name is stored as text and you can create the company record later.

From the contact detail page

On any contact detail page, click “Change Company” in the header. A modal lets you search for an existing company or clear the current association.

From the contacts list

While viewing the contacts table, you can see each contact's current company. Clicking into the contact opens the detail page where you can update the company.

On the company detail page, a list shows every contact linked to that company. This is especially useful when:

  • Preparing for a meeting and wanting to know who you've already spoken to at the organization.
  • Identifying decision-makers vs. champions within an account.
  • Tracking how many contacts you have at key target companies.
